Within the Wellington region these are our priority sectors.

Education

Wellington has an international reputation for the quality of the education we are able to provide.  We have considerable capability in education, with world class tertiary institutions and schools focused on the common goal of excellence in education.

Education Wellington aims to increase international students numbers and is currectly piloting  Words from Wellington, Online Cultral Exchange and English Lessons. This project links elementary schools in Korea with primary schools in Wellington.  Read more.


Food and Beverage

Wellington is firmly established as the Cuisine Capital of New Zealand.

Our Food and Beverage sector consistently punches above its weight with businesses winning national awards year after year for innovation and quality.

In addition to providing individual support to businesses,  Visa Wellington On a Plate,  the establishment of Le Cordon Bleu Insititute, and The Food Producers Database all form part of our strategy to help the food and beverage sector boom. Read more.


Manufacturing

Manufacturing is the third largest industry in New Zealand and employs 11.6% of the workforce.  We work with the region’s manufacturing sector to identify common issues and develop collective solutions.
 
Grow Wellington is focussed on developing programmes to assist manufacturers to improve their productivity. Our ground breaking management development scheme ‘Optimising Manufacturing’. Places recent university graduates into manufacturing companies to gain industry experience. The participating companies gain a fresh set of eyes, an increase in innovative thinking and ultimately, an increase in profits. Read more.
 

Primary industry

Our main project in the primary sector is to work with Greater Wellington Regional Council and the Wairarapa Regional Irrigation Trust to develop a water harvesting and water use project. This project will allow more productive use of the water resources of  the Wairarapa valley. Read more.


Film Wellington

Film Wellington offers a free support service to local and international productions and does everything from providing information and introductions to sourcing locations and issuing film permits. Read more.
