A perfect pitch could lead to investment for Kiwi entrepreneurs

01 Aug 2011

The Challenge, which helps companies get investment ready, is run by Unlimited Magazine.
Finalists are selected to pitch to investors and could also be matched with a business mentor.

CEO of Im-Able and 2010 Challenge finalist Dr Sunil Vather says it’s crucial to perfect your
pitch if you need capital to grow. “We can now tell our business story in one, three or ten minutes depending on the audience, which is crucial for securing interest,” says Dr Vather. “We are now in the final stages of raising the money we need.”

Finalists take part in a pitching workshop and deliver a ‘dummy pitch’ before presenting to
investors such as Ice Angels, No.8 Ventures, powerHouse, Movac, BCC, Pioneer Capital
Partners, Valentine Addis and I-Grow.

“Take the Challenge and you will learn to pitch in a way that is visionary but realistic – simple
and compelling,” he says. “The pitching workshop was invaluable in helping us articulate our
business properly.”

There is also an opportunity to be matched with a business mentor for 12 months.
“Our mentor is perfectly positioned to help us with entry into the US market,” says Dr Vather.
